I made the 45 minute bus ride up to Ohara this Sunday.
Spring was mid springing.
Flowers were flowering.
Wooden ladies carried sticks on their heads.
A good reason not to start forest fires is that they traumatize cartoon animals. Especially ones wearing underwear.
Otonashi Taki is a hoax! Otoari yade, Oto ARI!
Is it spring or not. Make up your mind.
Sakura hangs on for the longest season in years in front of the ancient stone wall of Sanzenji.
Sanzenji interior.
Trees reflected in the pond.
Gremlin playing cute to avoid suspicion.
Flowers.
Legions of tiny dead people.
Little dead person.
Linked in life, linked in death.
See above.
You can't take it with you.
We, who are not yet dead...

Beautiful stuff. I was especially impressed by the dandelion that is so common, such a raggedy friend and so familiar, yet the Japanese flower is subtly different, with more articulated petals, less simply golden in its blossom. It all makes me want to go to Ohara.
Me too, I'm thinking a field trip is in order.
Yes, I have to insist that Kyoto and its surrounding area have much going for it. However, these pictures are misleading in that they don't show the hoards of old ladies also flocking to look at the flowers. Not that they shouldn't, but it isn't tranquil. Of course, either of you are welcmoe any time.
Really beautiful pictures. Especially the trees reflected in the pond, in my opinion. Thank you.
