Oh No They Didn't

Keep the hands off Amy Goodman, suckers. Signs point to these busts being guided from the federal level. Surprise surprise. Democracy is a scary thing. The actual terrifying thing about these situations is that people who have a radical understanding of how the country works and what their roles in it are are given firearms and allowed to bust down doors and confiscate cars. Make no mistake, those are, in fact, the moments that they live for. They see protesters, disrupters, as the enemy and feel every right to treat them poorly. They will never pause for a second to think, "Maybe this person I am holding here, is smarter than me and has a better understanding of things than me." I still remember being at the inaugural protests in 2000 with the small contingent of roped off Republicans climaxing in ecstasy over the rest off us being challenged by the riot police.

Update:

Quote of the day from the audio, "Back the fuck off Amy Goodman!"

Word.

Not since Dan Rather got punched in the stomach has a journalist been done wrong

But seriously if you couple this with the pre-convention busts it is troubling. When billion dollar companies have more of a voice than the millions of people who vote for you, what are you going do?

when the gutter punks in berkeley used to ask me for money i would point at their born against patches and say "you know, sam mcpheeters works at a borders bookstore." they would have no idea who i was talking about. i'm guessing at least 80% of the folks they are arresting are like those kids. after getting caught in the middle of it twice in san francisco, i have no patience for it.

no patience for the arrest of Amy Goodman you mean.

The Democracy Now, the morning after gives a horrible description of what happened.

The description was horrible, or what happened? I'll have to listen. I heard that they surrounded her and then told her to leave. When she said that she couldn't leave when they were surrounding her they arrested her. Despite what Summer says there seems to be something creepy and ominous about these arrests.

It was not a poor description, but the events that transpired were not events I want to be part of. Such as people getting dragged face down on the pavement for going the wrong direction, that was DN's reporter...
It is troubling

Went by for my first stint working at the Obama HQ this afternoon. Moe, the worker from WV was stoppede in Niceville by their police for a taillight out, or some such. They asked him about the WV tag and he told them he was working here temporarily. They asked where and he said on a political campaign. Oh, which one? "Obama", he answers. Then they retain him and check all paperwork, registration, etc unusually thoroughly. He had a feeling he was being harassed. You think?

attempting to silence the voices in my head.
